The Cold war is over and is no longer needed. Now we have the War on Terror to take its place. Besides that Russians didn't call themselves communists. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics never was communist, was it? It's socialistic just like the EU is today. Whatever their politics are though isn't what makes Russia a threat these days. It's their alliances with China, Iran, and Syria. All of those nuclear plants in Iran are mostly Russian designs. Socialism has been adopted by most western countries so that Russian socialism is no longer a threat to the West. What ended the Cold War was when the West adopted socialism in 1992. Didn't you know that? What do you think Globalism is?--[[User:Roopilots6|Roopilots6]] 21:54, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Russia fears the USA again. Even though democracies do not attack other democracies. Critics are murdered, the opposition is silenced. Can their be any doubt that the hand picked successor of Putin will lead Russia? If it smells like communism, if it looks like communism, it probally is communism.--jp 23:23, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

The scariest part is now the KGB is murdering people in USA and Britain. Everyone knows that Putins handpicked man will lead russia, there is a chance Putins hand picked man will lead Ukraine! Did you hear about the arrest of Kasparov last week? many in russia fear that Putins not going to leave when his times up. I would disagree that russia fears USA. They think USA is weakened at the moment and are trying to see what they can get away with. But USA beat them then and they can beat Russia nowBohdan

the Neo-Soviet Union does pose a threat thoughBohdan

Wow! That's fascinating! Thanks.--Aschlafly 23:42, 20 April 2007 (EDT)

THE COLD WAR IS OVER: the world has changed: the Reds aren't coming, the Germans won't Blitzkrieg the world, the "Japs" won't invade California: Welcome to the 21st century!

Oh, the FSB is assassinating people abroad, kinda makes them fit in nicely with the CIA, MI6, Mossad and every other intelligence agency, doesn't it?

I say we wait until next year to see if Putin leaves before we start making unfounded accusations. Right now, Russia is anything but communist: it's a country in chaos after a chaotic and instant switch to capitalism which resulted in an oligarchy.

And yes, Russia uses immoral powerplay and supports certain shady regimes to protect their interests, just like China and the US.

I do agree with most of what you say, Middle Man. However, Putin has a nasty track record of "neutralizing" tricky political opponents, who he knows he can't beat... --Hojimachongtalk 12:38, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Hey, I'm not fond of the man either, but I think we should wait until next year, before we draw such radical conclusions.
