Charles Merwin "Trey" Grayson III (born April 18, 1972, in Kenton County, Kentucky) was a candidate for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Kentucky and currently serves as Kentucky Secretary of State. On May 18 he was defeated in the Republican primary for retiring Senator Jim Bunning by Rand Paul, in part due to the Tea Party's willingness to go against the establishment views of the party in order to pick a true conservative candidate.
