A simulation game is a genre of video game that mostly has open-ended and sandbox like qualities. It involves controlling something or simulating something, such as driving, racing, families/people (like The Sims 2) or building an object. These games are generally not talked about much, but are very popular in the gaming world. Some very popular simulation games include:
- The Sims and the expansion packs
- The Sims 2 and the expansion packs
- SimCity and other SimCity games
- Various "Sim" games such as SimFarm and SimTower
- Gran Turismo 5 and other games in the series (it is a racing game, but has simulation like features)
- Grand Theft Auto series (they are reality games but have simulation like features)
