Francesco Landini was an Italian composer of the late 14th century.[1]
He is known for his development of the trecento style, an exclusively secular medium that was often polyphonic, but with a strong emphasis on melody (as opposed to sometimes arid technicality of the French Ars Nova). He was also a poet, writing the lyrics to his compositions.[2]
