Andrew Jackson was  the first modern president because he established the president’s role as the leader of the government, not just another equal piece of the government.  I would not have voted for Andrew Jackson for two reasons, First, he acted out of emotion, not out of reason; he slaughtered Indians and British and disliked bankers based on minor experiences he had in his youth. Secondly, he acted in an unchristian manner-- he disproportionally inflicted mass suffering upon the native Americans. An example of this would be the Trail of Tears, when Indians were forcibly and sometimes violently removed from states in the east.
