A Model of Christian Charity was the Massachusetts Bay Colony's Governor John Winthrop's 1630 speech describing Winthrop's belief in divine support for the Colony's success.[1] In the speech he stated that Massachusetts would be a city upon a hill - in that the "the eies of all people" would be upon them.[2] The "City upon a hill" imagery has been echoed through the years, most famously by Ronald Reagan, and is seen by many as the seed of American exceptionalism.
