East Lothian is one of Scotland's 32 local (unitary) council areas. It lies to the east of Edinburgh and Midlothian, and to the north of Borders. The administrative capital is Haddington (and it was formerly known as Haddingtonshire).

- Museum of Flight, East Fortune, home of Concorde and the monument to the failed Scottish space program of the 1970s (including the remains of the 'Big Jessie' rocket)
- North Berwick Law, a dormant volcano that last erupted in 1746. The whale's jawbones at the summit were gifted by the King of Hawaii to Captain Morgan in 1843
- Tantallon Castle, whose curtain wall is one of the highest free-standing Mediaeval objects in Scotland.
