The Gutenberg Bible is a printed version of the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible, created by Johannes Gutenberg in the mid 15th century.[1] It was the first major work completed on Gutenberg's newly invented movable type press. It allowed for the first widespread dissemination of the Bible to the masses. As of 2007, only 48 copies of the original Gutenberg Bible are known to exist, of which only nine are complete.[2][3]
