Aalen is a city in southwest Germany.

History

Aalen was founded as a Roman fort, the walls and other facilities of which remain as a relic museum established in 1964. In 1360, it became a free imperial city, until it passed to Württemberg in 1802. During these years, the city hall and church of St. Nikolaus were constructed. In 1975, it acquired the nearby city of Wasseralfingen, increasing measures of the population.[1]

The city is now a center for sports and communications.[2]
