Forfar is the major city and administrative capital of the Scottish unitary council of Angus.
Forfar is noted above all for its beautiful womenfolk, and many poets, among them Robert Burns, who praised "...Forfar, your honest, sonsie face", and William Topaz McGonagall, have penned hymns to the local women, the "Forfar bridies".
