Theresa May (born October 1, 1956) is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party. She became Prime Minister without having led her party to victory in a general election, an unusual occurrence. Instead, she won the Conservative Party leadership contest triggered by David Cameron's resignation in the aftermath of his defeat in the Brexit referendum. From 2010 until becoming Prime Minister she served as the Home Secretary.
