The Texas primary will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, and is an enormous prize of delegates for Republican candidates, in addition to its symbolic significance as the largest conservative state. But the delegates will be awarded on a proportional basis, as in many of the other early primaries, which reduces its impact somewhat.
