Chambliss graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the [[University of Alabama]] at Tuscaloosa. He is the principal of his own company, Chambliss Engineering. He is a graduate of the program "Leadership Alabama." He served three terms on the Autauga County Commission, the last two as chairman. He is a [[deacon]] and Sunday school teacher at Heritage [[Baptist]] Church in Prattville. In 2014, the incumbent Republican senator for District 30, Bryan Taylor, did not seek reelection. Chambliss, who was serving on the Prattville City Council, defeated an intra-party rival, Harris Garner of Millbrook, in the Republican runoff [[primary]] held on July 15.
