Wishaw, known as ''Wishy'' is a postindustrial town in [[Lanarkshire]], [[Scotland]], developed on grid-pattern lines in the 19th century to service local iron works and coal mines. In 1996 an outbreak of food-poisoning in Lanarkshire which killed twenty people was traced to a butcher's shop in Wishaw. The town is represented in the Scottish parliament by [[Jack McConnell]].
