Kirriemuir is a market town and administrative centre in Angus, eastern Scotland. It was founded in the fifteenth century as a baronial burgh. Its industry was formerly based on the manufacture of jute sacking, an activity strongly allied to the local Tayside potato growing economy. J.M.Barrie, author of Peter Pan, was born in Kirriemuir and described it as a "wee reid tounie".
