Ward Churchill was a professor at the University of Colorado who falsely represented himself as an American Indian in order to become a lecturer on Native American studies.
He was criticized [1] for referring to the victims of the 9/11 attacks as "little Eichmanns", comparing them to the infamous Nazi leader, in an article titled Some People Push Back: On the Justice of Roosting Chickens [2] that was published shortly after 9/11.
In 2006, the university's Standing Committee on Research Misconduct found Churchill guilty of several charges, including plagiarism and fabrication of information.[3]
Churchill was fired by the University of Colorado on July 24, 2007.[4] Churchill then filed a lawsuit, claiming the university violated his right to free speech.[5] In a Fox News interview with University of Colorado President Hank Brown, Mr. Brown defended Ward Churchill's firing.[6] Bill O'Reilly says "the freedom of speech issue is bogus.
