I Am ... Gabriel

I Am ... Gabriel is a 2002 Christian film directed by Mike Norris, son of legendary martial artist Chuck Norris.

Ten years prior to the events of the film, a baby boy from Promise, Texas tragically dies. From that point forward, the town undergoes decline: the area is in a severe drought, businesses close and people are evicted from their homes. Young people only want to grow up to leave.

One day, the couple who lost their son meets a young boy wandering the highway, carrying nothing but a mat. He says his name is Gabriel and he has come to help the town. He is allowed to stay with them by Brody, the local sheriff, until family can be found.

Miraculously, things begin to change for the better: the town receives much needed rain and people are miraculously healed. Brody, however, thinks that Gabriel is nothing but a scam artist. When the local town doctor is tragically killed in a car accident, Brody confronts Gabriel at a church service, whereupon Gabriel reveals that he is the archangel Gabriel, having come to restore the town. Before leaving Gabriel has one more gift for the couple.

In the final scenes, the town has recovered and is thriving. The last scene shows the couple placing flowers on their son's grave, turning around to reveal that Gabriel's final "gift" was a son for them.
