Norwegian is a Germanic language spoken primarily in Norway.
It is part of the North-Germanic subgroup, and descended from Old Norse. It is closely related to Swedish and Danish, and somewhat less closely related to Icelandic.
In contrast to Icelandic, most of the complexities of the old Germanic case and tense system have disappeared, although in common with other Germanic languages, it retains its strong verbs.
