Cyril of Alexandria was Pope of Alexandria during the Fifth Century, C.E. A.D. During this time, he wrote extensively on the divinity of Christ and burned several heretical philosophers, mathematicians and astronomers (such as Hypatia of Alexandria).
For his efforts in recapitulating and expounding on the divinity of Christ as well as in expunging idolatry from the depraved city of Alexandria, Cyril was canonized and appointed Doctor of the Church.
