Christianity in Asia goes right back to the Apostolic and divine foundations of Christianity by Jesus Christ Our Lord and His holy Apostles. Israel being situated in Asia, it was Asia itself that was the first to hear the Word of God. St. Thomas the Apostle preached and was martyred in India, showing Christianity had already reached the Far East before the end of the First Century A.D. The First Ecumenical Council was the Council of Nicaea in Asia Minor in 325 A.D.
