An enzyme is a protein produced by a living organism that functions as a catalyst. Enzymes increase the speed of chemical reactions within an organism's body. They are essential to functions such as digestion. Human life would end if enzyme stop working. A tempurature of 106 F (41.5 C), or more, can change the shapes of enzymes so the can no longer function.
