The Sinai Peninsula is a triangular area of land currently part of Egypt. It is bordered by the Suez Canal and rest of Egypt to the west, and Israel to the east. It has a northern shore with the Mediterranean Sea and lies between the two northern arms of the Red Sea - the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba.

The oldest monastery in world, St Catherine's, is located on Mount Sinai.
