Michael Shumway "Mike" Lee (born June 4, 1971) is mostly a constitutional conservative, a constitutional lawyer, a paleolibertarian, and is the senior Republican United States Senator from Utah, having won the 2010 election, having been backed by the Tea Party Movement and the Senate Conservatives Fund. He scored a primary victory against incumbent Republican Bob Bennett. He promised to reduce the cost, size and scope of the federal government. His father was an Assistant U.S. Attorney General under President Ford and U.S. Attorney General under Ronald Reagan. Lee's legal career includes a one-year clerkship with Justice Samuel Alito at the U.S. Supreme Court. He and his wife Sharon have three children and live in Alpine, Utah.
