John Wesley Davis (1799-1859) was a US Representative from Indiana and the Speaker of the House from 1845 to 1857. Initially a Jacksonian, Davis became a committed Democrat and later went on to serve in other positions such as being Governor of the Oregon Territory from 1853–1854.
