The doctrine of eternal punishment was taught by Jesus Christ (who said more about hell than He did about heaven). This subject was acknowledged by the early church, it was endorsed by the “church fathers,” and it was defended by the Reformation period. It wasn’t until the eighteenth century a new wave of “clergymen” within the ranks of “Christendom” began to deny this fundamental tenet of the biblical doctrine. The Seventh-day Adventists are wrong about the punishment of the wicked. You have the choice of believing what men teach or what the Bible teaches. My prayer is that you will accept God’s word." https://montevistacoc.com/multimedia-archive/why-do-seventh-day-adventists-reject-eternal-punishment/ [[User:NishantXavier|NishantXavier]][[User talk:NishantXavier|For Christ the King]] 21:43, April 21, 2023 (EDT)

:Alright, to address the verses you cited and whether they substantiate conditionalism or eternal torment:
 +
:*Matt. 25:41: "Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Again, to reiterate my point above, Jude 7 uses "eternal fire" to describe the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. This should be a clear indication that "eternal fire" doesn't necessarily refer to fire that ''burns'' forever.
 +
:*Mark 9:48: "where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched." Unquenchable fire refers to the fact that the fire will not be extinguished, not that it will perpetually burn for literal ceaseless ages. When the wicked are punished in hellfire, there will be no firefighters to put out the fire, because their fate of destruction will be inevitable.
 +
:*Rev. 19:15: "From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty." This verse alone doesn't seem to address the conditionalism vs. eternal torment debate.
 +
:*Luke 12:47–48: "And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more." Now, I've heard arguments by defenders of eternal torment attempt to reconcile this verse with their theology by suggesting that there will be different levels of Hell. While this is true, note that Jesus's comparison uses ''quantitative'' wording; such that hellfire burns forever, this analogy doesn't make sense if everyone burns for ceaseless ages. Under conditionalism, it thereby follows that the time each wicked person is burned is proportional to their works.
