Cheburashka (Russian: Чебурашка) is a character in Eduard Uspensky's childrens stories, and the main character in the Cheburashka animated films.
Cheburashka is a small strange animal. Originally from a tropical forest, he fell asleep in an orange crate and ended up in a Russian market. He is friends with an accordian playing crocodile named Гена (Gena). The other main character, who could be described as an antagonist, is Старуха Шапокляк (Old Lady Shapoklyak). She has a pet rat called Lariska.
Cheburashka is also very popular in Japan.
