Domesday
The DB didn't cover all of England. It excluded what is now Cumbria, which at the time was still part of the region of Strathclyde, part of the Kingdom of Scotland; and also both the Patrimony of St Cuthbert (better known as County Durham), where the bishopric produced its own 'Domesday', the Boldon Book, in the twelfth century, and Northumberland, a quasi-autonomous earldom on an uncertain frontier.
