Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States. Arriving at the entrance of New York harbor on June 17th, 1884, the Statue of Liberty has proudly stayed there ever since. The statue stands nearly 150 feet tall and is a woman with her arm held high with a lit torch. In her other hand she is clutching a book. The famous inscription on the inside reads:

Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
