"[[Developmentally handicapped]]" is a good example to see the [[evolution]] of [[politically correct]] language and idioms. It is/was [[grammatically]] incorrect. When people first heard "developmentally handicapped", the [[direct object]] was missing - "person". It sounded de-humanizing. But the [[Marxist]]-controlled academic institutions, together with their sister government [[bureaucrat]]s got away with de-humanizing people to their faces, and whole fields of study and bureaucratic politically correct (another term missing an object) language flourished.
