Dan was blessed at the end of Jacob's life and alloted a share in the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

He was named by Rachel and called Dan, meaning "judge" because, as she said "God has judged my case; and He has also heard my voice and given me a son." (Genesis 30:6).  Dan was blessed at the end of Jacob's life and alloted a share in the [[Twelve Tribes of Israel]]. (Genesis 49:16-18)
