A meritocracy is a system in which promotions are based on merit rather than friendship or seniority. It has also been called 'Social [[Darwinism]]'. Meritocracy is inherently flawed in that it presupposes individuals rise and fall based on their own merits rather than [[God's Will]- it is therefore a logical extension that [[theocracy]] is the ideal form of government.
