Just insert {{clear}} right behind the last exclamation mark to make the box look less broken:

Interesting idea, but it didn't work (see how your edit actually inserted your signature into the template). I'll try one or two things in the few remaining minutes I got today... maybe it'll work, hold on... --JLindon 20:53, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

The things I threw at it didn't work as I had hoped. I now included a workaround: Just call the template as {{welcome|sig=~~~}} to get (in my case):

Well, I didn't find anything about this in the Wikipedia help right now. It's quite possible I overlooked something, but right now, it doesn't look too great, unless there's some hack that lets us do it. And I only know of this one... it's just more flexible now since it has an added parameter: Call {{welcome}} for the regular version or {{welcome|sig=~~~}} for the signed one. --JLindon 21:24, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

I don't know of any way to automatically include the poster's signature. There may be; I'm not that much of an expert on these things, but I suspect not. Ed Poor might know.

What was wrong with the appearance of the box that the {{clear}} was needed? It always looked okay to me, and doesn't look any different (in that respect) than before. I use IE, so perhaps it was a problem in another browser? Anyway, I'm just curious to know what the problem actually was.

It's quite possible that Explorer is more forgiving there. The issue had been that the yellow box had been auto-sized so that the lower border was right under "Thanks for reading, Welcome!". So the link box at the right side suddenly broke out of the box at the bottom. The clear-template makes sure that there is enough space for all elements inside the box. --JLindon 08:31, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

Color changes
