Knockout is inactivation of specific genes. Knockouts are often created in laboratory organisms such as yeast or mice so that scientists can study the knockout organism as a model for a particular disease. This process can only be understood, and was discovered, utilizing the theory of evolution. Scientists detect homologous genes in different species, and use that knowledge to knockout the gene of a similar species to test effect. This is what is called verifiable evidence.
