Myanmar is a country in southeast Asia, also known as Burma (to those who do not recognise its current government as legitimate).

The capital is Rangoon.

It is severely censured by groups from ASEAN [1] and Amnesty International [2] for its appalling human rights abuses, ranging from forced labour, to a campaign of oppression and what some claim amounts to genocide.

The country contains most of the Karen people, an ethnic group which has been fighting for independence since 1949.
