Matthew was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus.

Matthew was a tax collector when he left his job to follow Jesus. [1] He was the author of the first Gospel, which was written in Greek primarily for the Jewish audience. Some claim that a notebook containing Hebrew notes were also written by Matthew.
