The Battle of Shiloh was a military battle in the American Civil War, which happened in April, 1862. In the battle Conferate General Albert Sydney Johnston made an unexpected attack on Federal General Ulysses S. Grant. The attack was successful in breaking several Federal lines, but Grant recieved reinforcements and ultimately won the battle. This battle was critical in helping the Federals win in the Western Theater. [1]
