John Thune is a Republican United States Senator from South Dakota. After a failed bid for the U.S. Senate in 2002, Thune won the South Dakota senatorial race in 2004 by beating a senate Democrat leader. He is a outspoken conservative and has voted with a majority of his Republican colleagues over ninety percent of the time during the current Congress.[1]
