The guinea is a unit of currency equal to 21 shillings (a pound is 20 shilings). This can also be expressed as 252 pence, or in decimal form, 105 pence. It is equal to £1.05. Some traditional payments, such as horse racing prizes, are still expressed in guineas rather than pounds.
