Sting himself called it sinister here.
Personally, I always felt the song described a sick obsession, a rallying cry for every man who stalks or overly controls his love interest who rejects him. Sting, it can be said, is a liberal and many of his pieces describe a disturbed frame of mind. He took a swipe at Reagan in discussing this most popular work!--Aschlafly 22:37, 25 December 2007 (EST)
