Sitcom, an abbreviation of the term "situation comedy," is a television genre in which characters, and the relations between them, form the basis of dramatic and comedic interactions, and other plot devices.
While sitcoms tend to be family-friendly, this is not always the case: comparing modern sitcom like How I Met Your Mother, with the older Full House, reveals the wide range of the genre.
