The First Church of Christ, Scientist of Boston, Massachusetts is a leading Christian Scientist institution that certifies sanatoriums (health-promoting therapy or recuperation centers) nationwide affiliated with that religion. Christian Scientists do not ordinarily use physicians or hospitals.
Federal law expressly recognizes the authority of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in certifying Christian Scientist santoriums.[1]
