The Four Noble Truths are the central teaching of Buddhism, declared by Gautama Buddha. They are:
- Life means suffering
- Suffering is caused by attachment to fleeting things
- The elimination of attachment is possible
- The Noble Eightfold Path is the means by which to do this.
