Motion to compel

A motion to compel, or, in its traditional name, a "motion to compel discovery," is a legal motion made during discovery in which a party seeks to obtain information from her opponent, which the opponents seeks to hide from the discovery process. The motion alleges that the sought information is material, and unprotected by any privilege.
