Jack Kerouac (born Jean-Louis Kerouac March 12 1922 - died October 21 1969) is one of America's great writers. He wrote such famous books as Big Sur and the classic On the Road.
He is credited with starting the Beat Generation and was friendly with other great writers of the time including Alan Ginsburg, Ken Kesey and Tom Wolfe
He died of complications stemming from a life of Alcohol abuse.
