Spore is a forthcoming computer god game by Will Wright, the creator of The Sims and the SimCity series, which has currently peaked at SimCity 4. Wright has aspired to the creation of video games which mimic or replicate life, in an entertaining fashion, and the trend of the SimCity games was towards greater accuracy, realism, depth of control, and detail.

In this sense, Spore is a departure from the trend. In the game, the player takes control of a single cell, and guides the evolution of its species through a vast time span, eventually becoming an animal and forming a civilization, before exploring space through a UFO. Accordingly, Spore implicitly accepts the Theory of evolution as truth, and rejects the theory of Cretinism.

It's release date has been confirmed as September 5th in Europe, and September 7th elsewhere.
