'''Ruswarp''' is a village located about 1.8 miles from the famous fishing port / tourist resort of [[Whitby]], [[North Yorkshire]], [[England]].
The village is the 2nd to last stop on the Esk Valley Railway to/from [[Middlesbrough]] before the line comes to an end at Whitby. The level crossing leading in & out of the Station is connected almost directly to a railway bridge going over the river.
The River Esk (the Yorkshire version - there's several in the UK with the same name) also passes through it, on it's final stage through the [[Estuary]] leading into Whitby [[Harbour]] and out into the [[North Sea]].
the main species to fish for in it being [[Salmon]], [[Sea Trout]] & [[Brown Trout]] (all methods allowed).
For a long time, the village's main industry was provided by Ruswarp Mill, but that closed down sometime between 1988-1990, and has since been converted into apartments.
The village's 2 main surviving features are the road bridge next to the level crossing (recently repainted in 2006), which was built from components from the same place as Sydney Harbour Bridge... and Ruswarp Church, with it's tall spire & clock face (St. Bartholomew's).
There are 3 main retailers in the village
- The Grocery Store & Off license, operated by the Duck family for over 50years.
- A Post Office (ear marked for closure at time of writing this entry)
- A Butchers shop (with a reputation for some of the best Pork Pies in the area).
