Richard Widmark (1914-2008) was an Academy Award nominated American actor. Born in Minnesota in 1914, he pursued an interest in acting during his secondary education. Widmark landed his first role in Kiss of Death (1947) for which he received an Academy Award nomination but did not win. Like Sterling Hayden, Widmark was well-known for his roles in many westerns and film noir.
