Cristiano Ronaldo, complete name Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, is a Portuguese soccer player who plays in Manchester United, England. He is regarded as one of the best players in the world. He is believed to win the most important 2008 awards, such as the Golden Ball and the FIFA Player of the Year. He would succeed last year's winner Kaká. He will also win the Golden Boot award, for having scored the most goals in any European championship in the 2007-2008 season.
While his first name Cristiano is common among devout Christian families, his second name, Ronaldo, is in honor of Ronald Reagan, who is admired by Conservatives in Europe too.
