A public library is a library funded by a municipality or local authority which is offers free access to the public and loan of books to residents of the funding district. As well as having significant book stocks for loan, public libraries generally offer reference facilities, recent newspapers and magazines of general interest, and CDs/DVDs for loan. They increasingly provide internet access for users.
