Our Lady of Guadalupe, also called the Virgin of Guadalupe, Empress of the Americas, is Mexico's most popular and important patron saint; is an important symbol to Mexican identity. In Mexico She is also known as Virgen Morena.
According to tradition, she first appeared to an indigenous Mexican, Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, in 1531... She was among the first manifestations of the Virgin Mary in the newly colonized Americas. [1]
